A survey of NREGA in ten districts of six Hindi-speaking states (Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh) took place in two phases in May and June, 2008. The survey, initiated by the G.B. Pant Social Science Institute in Allahabad, was conducted by university students in collaboration with local volunteers.
