Right to Food Campaign

About the Campaign: Finance and Accounts

Funding policy

  1. Since the Right to Food Campaign is a decentralised network of autonomous organisations and individuals, it is up to the participating groups to organise their own funding from appropriate sources.
  2. The Secretariat, for its part, survives mainly from individual donations. The only exception so far is a grant of Rs 1.5 lakhs from the Zindabad Trust (set up by Arundhati Roy), received in 2004. For the rest, the Secretariat accepts only individual donations in rupees with no strings attached.

Accounts of the Secretariat

The Secretariat has been raising limited funds, from November 2002 onwards, to finance routine activities as well as special events such as the public hearing (“Living with Hunger”) held in Delhi on 10 January 2003. As mentioned above, these funds are raised through individual donations in rupees with no strings attached.

Receipts and Payments Statement for the financial year 2007-08

The secretariat runs on a shoestring budget and bulk of the budget is used for operational expenses including salaries. The secretariat does not own any investments or property beyond two old computers, and a few chairs and tables that have been donated. There are no liabilities as of the closing date of the statement.
